Flatland and hill campuses really do need separate plans. A Fruitvale or West Oakland school may have wide streets but heavy truck traffic near the port, while a Montclair campus can have tight turns and little room to wait. Skyline Boulevard and the Oakland Zoo approach are the two hill routes that come up most, and we check those and the bus size first. Our Hayward yard is about 25 minutes away on I-880.

Under California Vehicle Code 546, a school pupil activity bus is a vehicle other than a schoolbus that a carrier runs under contract with a school, taking pupils in 12th grade or below to or from a public or private school activity.
Vehicle Code 12517 calls for a license endorsed for passenger transportation, and the driver's certificate comes from the DMV.
